Naxal Attack on Congress convoy in Chhattisgarh

As many as 12 Congress partymen were killed in a deadly attack in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh by the naxal outfits on Saturday night. The famous leader of Congress party and founder of Salwa Judum, a movement against naxal outfits, Mahendra Karma was killed in the attack.

The former chief minister Vidya Charan Shukla was seriously injured in the attack. According to media reports, hi s condition was said to be critical. After the attack Shukla was rushed to Jagdalpur hospital and from there he flew to Raipur.

The Congress leaders convey was on the way to Jagdalpur after having a meeting – Parvartan Yatra in Sukma. The Chief Minister Raman Singh discussed about the attack in a meeting called later in the evening on Saturday.

While was reported that some leaders were abducted by the naxals on Saturday after attacking on the Congress convey in Bastar.

Fake Encounters Prime Concern

Indian Express, the leading newspaper in India, carried out a story with title Fake encounters will happen if security forces deployed for long periods: SC

The articles reads: With a judicial commission declaring that seven persons were killed in fake encounters in Manipur, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said "unjustified" killings were bound to continue if the armed forces are deployed in an area for too long.
The fake encounter has been the major concern in India for long. And some the fake encounters have been reported in other Indian states besides the north-eastern states.

Odisha Naxals sets free Claudio Colangelo

Odisha News: Claudio Colangelo, one of the two hostage Italians by naxals in Odisha was freed on Sunday, while the other tourist, Paolo Bosusco (54) will be under Maoist captivity, according to media reports.

The government appointed negotiators called off meeting with the naxal groups after the legislator Laxmipur Jhina Hikaka was abducted by the ultras on Saturday.

Naxals abduct Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka

Odisha News: In a significant development to the abduction of two foreigners in Odisha, on Staurday at 1 pm the MLA of Laxmipur Jhina Hikaka of the ruling party -BJD was abducted, according to the media reports here.

However there is not update about claim from any outfit about the abduction of the MLA in Koraput district. The incident has been a major set back for the BJD government in Odisha as the opposition raised chaos in the state assembly.

The talks with naxals has been called off by the two negotiators - B D Sharma and Dandapani Mohanty on Saturday.

Hostage crisis in Odisha: Naxal to release Claudio

Odisha News: There is update about the hostage of two Italian tourists by naxals in Odisha in the media that one of the abducted Italian Claudio Colangelo may be released. It was reported in the media that Claudio is reported ill, and will be released by the naxal groups.

While the other Italian tourist will be under captive till the talks between the negotiators and naxal groups. It is another big abduction case reported in the state of Odisha after the former district collector Krisha was released by naxals after being under captive for days.

Naxal attack in Odisha, four BSF Officers killed

Odisha News: Four BSF officers were killed in IED blast by suspected naxals in Malkangiri district on Friday. According to media reports, the BSF officers were returning after attending a district administration meeting. The blast went off near Janbai area in Chitragonda area in the district at 1pm on Friday.

Salwa Judum movement is illegal: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has pronounced that the movement to fight against maoist, Salwa Judum as illegal, on Tuesday.

This is bit set back to the Chhattisgarh state government which has been backing the movement by appointing people against maoist and naxals in the state.

The villagers of various regions have been joining the movement to fight against the maoist in the state.

Salwa Judum has been active in the Bastar and Datewada districts of the state, as the it is one of naxal dominating districts.

Salwa Judum means the 'peace march' in Gondi language, its a anti-naxal movement started by the state government in 2005 in Chhattisgarh.
